The new rating grid came into force on 1 February 2022 and significantly changes the requirements. What should you remember?
- More criteria to meet: 133 instead of 112.
- Condition and cleanliness become mandatory non-compensable criteria: without them, no rating.
- Some criteria are tougher.
- Access to the 4 and 5-star categories is more demanding.
- The sustainability and accessibility section is more extensive.
- Technology is taken into account (internet, video, etc.).
- Leisure facilities and services are more demanding.
Notably, beds in cabins (under 7 m²) and mountain-style bunk nooks are no longer counted, which may reduce the capacity of the properties concerned.
There is no longer any exemption on information about accessibility: landlords must state it in their listings. An accessible document must be provided, for example a welcome guide in braille, large-print documents or adapted tourist brochures.
In short, the new grid is more demanding for owners, with possible loss of capacity.
